In an increasingly complex world, we are looking for new solutions. As designers, we have a responsibility to design for the future. Especially when it comes to sustainability. My graduation project, Colab, is an answer to this call for innovation. Inspired by the possibilities of mycelium, I created a place where art and science come together.

I became completely captivated by mycelium during my studies and couldn't wait to learn more about it. After an in-depth exploration of the uses of this fascinating material, I wanted to bring others along on this journey of discovery. Therefore, I set up a project where creative people could experiment with this extraordinary material. By organizing a workshop at huis73 and offering one-on-one guidance to 7 artists and designers in St. Joost's [MI]lab, I helped creatives translate their own vision with mycelium into tangible designs.

It was great to see how enthusiastic the participants were and how they used mycelium in the most surprising ways, from making shoes to creating living graphic design. Colab is a place where creativity and experimentation come together, and I am incredibly proud of what we accomplished together.
